Residents
feel that the Town of Plainville Mass exemplifies a small, rural community
in an idyllic country setting. Geographically positioned along the northeast
border of Rhode Island, the commute to Boston or Providence is both quick
and convenient. A family oriented community, Plainville is heavily forested,
and much of this land is dedicated to conservation through both municipal
and private land conservation groups.
Augmenting such conservation areas
are several parks and recreation areas. Additionally, Plainville lies within
both the Ten Mile and Charles River watersheds, forming a "continental
divide" as one river flows north to Boston Harbor and the other south to
New Bedford.
Both rivers offer recreation for
canoeists. The rural nature of the community is further typified by the
presence of several horse farms and stables which are widely respected
for their breeding and training. Industry, although limited, is characterized
by quality craftsmanship and advanced engineering. Of note are such manufacturers
as Whiting and Davis, of longstanding international renown, and MediaLogic,
a firm on the cutting edge of computer technology.
Plainville Mass is located in Southeastern
Massachusetts, bordered by Wrentham on the north; Foxborough on the east;
Mansfield on the southeast; North Attleborough on the south; and Cumberland,
Rhode Island, on the west. Plainville is 28 miles north of Fall River;
31 miles southwest of Boston. |
